Hello! Thanks for stopping by to visit!
Today's a special day. It's my Mom's birthday! Well, it's also the birthday of the United States; but I'm focusing on Mom -- in a patriotic kind of way, of course! Every year I give Mom a Longaberger patriotic basket and this year I was able to order one that I could give to her on her birthday. I was pretty excited about that, so I felt that I needed to make her a card that would complement her gift!
In addition, lots of the stamping challenge sites that I visit are featuring patriotic themes for their challenges this week, so I thought I'd make a card that would meet the specifications for one of these sites. I haven't participated in a challenge in a while, so it's time to get back to it! I chose the Pals Paper Arts Fourth of July Inspiration (PPA49).
This card features lots of brightly colored flowers which reminded me of the explosion of color that you see in a fireworks display. The flowers rest on Cherry Cobbler cardstock matted with Crumb Cake and Riding Hood Red cardstocks and adhered to a Marina Mist card base. The flower images come from the Punched Posies stamp set (Summer Mini Catalog Level 2 Hostess set), the outline for the Round Tab (on the right side) comes from the Perfect Punches stamp set (NEW in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog) and the sentiments come from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.
I LOVE cards with florals and it just doesn't get any easier with the Punched Posies stamp set when you can use punches to quickly create a stack of flowers! I included Rhinestone brads and a shiny Filigree embellishment anchored with a silver brad as centers for the flowers and to the birthday sentiment to add some pop and shine to the card (also important when you're thinking about an explosion of color!). Speaking of "pop", you'll notice that the flowers are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals and that some of the flower petals are curved to increase interest and add dimension to the focal point.
The interior of the card was decorated with more punched or cut out flowers and leaves and a sentiment from the On Your Birthday stamp set. Mom may have to share her birthday with the USA, but I wanted to remind her it was HER day, too!

To complete the theme, the lower left front of the envelope was stamped with more brightly colored flowers.
This is actually the second card I made in this way; the first was made a couple of days ago until I remembered the gift and made the card again in colors that coordinated with the gift. Here's the first card.
This one looks like a burst of Spring!
I hope you are having a great holiday weekend and finding the time to enjoy friends and family. Please remember, in your thoughts and prayers, those whose sacrifices have made and continue to make our country so GREAT.
