Punching a Circle Circus

Hi!  Thanks for stopping by to visit.  Today's post showcases the stamp set Circle Circus and punching techniques.  This card was designed for a workshop and was a great favorite with the workshop participants because it could be used for so many occasions with the addition of a simple sentiment on the card front or left as-is for an upbeat note card.

I think my favorite feature on this card is the scallop circle.  Stampin' Up! punches make it easy to punch a single image multiple times.  The key is to work from the center outward.  Here's the secret:  Hold the punch upside down so that you can see where you're punching!  Hold the punch upside down in your hand with the punch handle in the palm of your writing hand.  The punch window should be facing up.  With your other hand, insert the stamped image, face up, into the paper slot of the punch, centering the image in the punch window.  Squeeze the punch handle to punch out the image.

The scallop image was stamped in Crushed Curry Classic ink on Whisper White.  The stamp was cleaned and then the image was stamped again, this time using Melon Mambo Classic ink on Whisper White.  A 1 1/4" circle punch was used to punch out the center of the Crushed Curry scallop image and then the Scallop Circle punch was used to punch out the remaining scalloped circle ring.  For the Melon Mambo scalloped image, a 3/4" punch was used to punch out the center of the image; a Stampin' Dimensional was used to lift the image off the card front to add interest.  For the remaining images, the 1 1/4" circle punch was used to punch out the dotted circle image stamped with Soft Suede Classic ink; the 1" circle punch was used to punch out the group of ovals image stamped with Melon Mambo Classic ink; and the 3/4" circle punch was used to punch out the flourishes image stamped in Bermuda Bay Classic ink.  Look for another posting using this stamp set and the circle punches in the next week or two; this time to create a vivid border for scrapbook pages.

Have a great weekend!
