A Haunted Forest

Inspired by a Friend

Hello!

It's a VERY rainy weekend in East Central Florida.  A great time to be inside crafting.  I'm getting projects finished up for the SASS Stamp Club meeting tomorrow afternoon.  I hope the ladies get plenty of rest, because they'll be working hard.

The inspiration for this card comes from thoughts of my very good friend, Terry, and the Language of Friendship stamp set.  I designed this card for her birthday and was so pleased with it I made a few more for the folks who purchased Stampin' Up! products from me in August.

Isn't it pretty?  Terry loves cards with a vintage feel that are deceptively simple to make.  Looking at this card you'd think that there's a whole lot of fussy work, but thanks to Stampin' Up!'s great punches and the Big Shot, this card was actually pretty quickly assembled.

A mat of Baja Breeze cardstock (the edges sponged with Baja Breeze ink) was adhered near the upper center of the Not Quite Navy card front (the edges sponged with Not Quite Navy ink).  Atop this mat is a slightly smaller mat of Old Olive cardstock (the edges sponged with Old Olive ink).

The focal point begins with a Baja Breeze print from the Pocket Full of Posies Designer Series Paper (the edges sponged with Baja Breeze ink) matted with a piece of Not Quite Navy cardstock (the edges sponged with Not Quite Navy ink).  A piece of Naturals White cardstock was run through the Big Shot inside the oval Designer Frames Textured Impressions embossing folder, then the cardstock was torn near the embossed oval.  Cajun Craze ink was sponged over the embossing and the oval attached near the upper edge of the Baja Breeze paper with Stampin' Dimensionals.  A rectangular piece of Naturals White cardstock was stamped with the Friendship quotation using Cajun Craze ink, the edges of teh piece sponged with Baja Breeze ink, and the rectangle adhered near the bottom edge of the Baja Breeze paper with SNAIL.  A piece of Not Quite Navy 3/8" Taffeta ribbon was wrapped around the middle of the focal point and knotted on the front just below the embossed oval.  The focal point was adhered, centered to the Old Olive mat, on the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The bird image was stamped on coordinating pieces of Baja Breeze and Old Olive papers from the Pocket Full of Posies Designer Series Paper using Cajun Craze ink and punched out with the 2-Step Bird punch.  The branch image was stamped on a piece of Old Olive cardstock using Old Olive ink and punched out with the 2-Step Bird punch.  The bird's "feet" were stamped inside the embossed oval just above the embossing and the branch adhered along the lower edge of the frame just under the bird's "feet" using Mini Glue Dots.  The bird's wing was adhered to the bird body and the bird adhered above its "feet" with SNAIL.

The flowers image was stamped three times:  the first time using Baja Breeze ink on Naturals White cardstock, the second time using Cajun Craze ink on Naturals White cardstock, and the third time using Not Quite Navy ink on Baja Breeze cardstock.  All of the images were punched with the Boho Blossoms punch.  A sponging of Cajun Craze ink was added to the center of the large flower (Baja Breeze ink on Naturals White) and the flower placed on the embossed frame with a Stampin' Dimensional.  A small Basic Pearl was added to the center of the small scallop flower (Not Quite Navy ink on Baja Breeze) and placed on the embossed frame with a Mini Glue Dot.  A Basic Pearl was placed at the center of the medium flower (Cajun Craze ink on Naturals White) and placed on the embossed frame with a Mini Glue Dot.

The inside of the card was lined with a piece of Naturals White cardstock (the edges sponged with Not Quite Navy ink).  The branch was stamped near the bottom edge of the liner with Old Olive ink.  The bird's "feet" and body were stamped just above the branch using Cajun Craze ink.  The body of the bird was sponged lightly with Baja Breeze ink.  The bird's wing was stamped on Naturals White cardstock using Cajun Craze ink, lightly sponged with Baja Breeze ink, punched with the 2-Step Bird punch, and adhered to the bird body with SNAIL.  The small scallop flower (Cajun Craze ink on Naturals White) was adhered near the lower left corner of the liner with a Mini Glue Dot.  A dot of Cajun Craze ink was added to the center of the medium flower (Baja Breeze ink on Naturals White) before it was adhered to the liner diagonally above the small scallop flower, leaving a space between the two flowers.  Cajun Craze ink was sponged at the center of the large flower (Not Quite Navy ink on Baja Breeze) and adhered in the space between the two smaller flowers using SNAIL.

The branch image was stamped twice near the lower left front corner of the Medium Naturals White Envelope using Old Olive ink.  Above one branch, the large flower was stamped using Cajun Craze ink and the small scallop flower was stamped above the second branch using Baja Breeze ink.

I'm sure you have a friend (or two) that you've been meaning to get in touch with.  Take advantage of this rainy weekend to make a card that will let your friend(s) know how much they mean to you.
