With Sympathy
A Vintage (Type) Birthday Card

An Enchanted Thank You

Hi there!

The yellow haze of oak pollen is pretty thick in these parts; so as a result, congestion and coughing and sneezing, and a raw nose are my life right now.  It's all part of the rites of Spring.  Yippee!

On the brighter side, one of the best parts of late Winter and early Spring, in Stampin' Up! terms, is Sale-A-Bration.  This year's selection of FREE merchandise (with a qualifying merchandise order of $50) is the best yet; especially the items that were designed just for Sale-A-Bration.  I'm particularly in love with the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper.  I've been showing you the projects I've made with the Sale-A-Bration products; however, I forgot to show you one of the prettiest I made--the invitation for my Sale-A-Bration workshops.  I also used this card design for my January order Thank You cards.

I first saw this card demonstrated by Catherine Harwood at her demonstrator downline meeting.  I just love how the Lace Ribbon Border punch is used on this card.  We begin with a piece of Lucky Limeade cardstock cut to 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2" on the 11" length.  Place the cardstock into the punch with the score line approximately 1/8" to the left of the start line of the punch image.  (Look for the silver line on the flat plate located left of center.  I've added a line with a Sharpie so that you can see it better.)

Punch the cardstock and then slide it to the left and match up the punched area with the image on the punch flat plate.  Punch a second time.  Remove the cardstock from the punch and flip it over to punch the opposite side.  Repeat the process used to punch the first side.  Using Lucky Limeade ink and a sponge, sponge the edges of the punched areas, the top edge of the card front, the bottom edge of the card front, and the edges of the center (un-punched) panel.

The center panel begins with a piece of Pool Party cardstock; the edges of the cardstock sponged with Pool Party ink and adhered, centered, to the center panel.  A piece of Lucky Limeade/Pool Party patterned Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper was cut slightly smaller than the Pool Party panel, the edges sponged with Lucky Limeade ink, and adhered, centered on the Pool Party cardstock.  A piece of Very Vanilla 3/8" Taffeta ribbon (Retired) was wrapped around the bottom of the center panel and knotted on the card front.

The focal point begins with a piece of Pool Party cardstock embossed with the oval Designer Frames Textured Impressions embossing folder.  Then the piece was die cut with the 2 3/16" x 2 5/8" Labels Collection Framelits.  The edges of the die cut/embossed piece were sponged with Pool Party ink.  The inked sponge was also rubbed across the raised embossing to bring it into higher relief.  A piece of Very Vanilla cardstock was stamped with the "THANKS so much" sentiment from the Sincere Salutations stamp set and punched with the Large Oval punch (1 3/8" x 2").  [The "You're Invited" sentiment, also from the Sincere Salutations stamp set was used for the workshop invitations.]  The small bird from the Elementary Elegance stamp set was stamped under the sentiment using Pool Party ink.  The edges of the punched oval were sponged with Pool Party ink and adhered to the center of the embossed frame.  The frame was adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with Very Vanilla cardstock at the center (so that it's not visible from the card front).  The edges of the cardstock were sponged with Lucky LImeade ink.  A sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set was used for the Thank You cards; stamping the sentiment with Lucky Limeade ink and adding the small bird in between the two parts of the sentiment using Pool Party ink.  For the workshop invitations, the small bird was stamped three times on the cardstock (near the top, at the middle, and near the bottom edge).  The workshop invitation information was printed on Vellum, cut to the size of the cardstock, and adhered to the cardstock, matching all the edges.

The "THANKS so much" sentiment was stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Very Vanilla Envelope and the small bird image was added to the left of the sentiment using Pool Party ink.  [The same process was used for the "You're Invited" sentiment for the workshop invitations.]

For one of the workshops, I made a set of these notecards using six of the sentiments in the Sincere Salutations stamp set and the corresponding sentiments from the Petite Pairs stamp set as the Hostess Gift.  For these cards, I replaced the Very Vanilla 3/8" Taffeta ribbon (Retired) with Pool Party 3/8" Ruffled ribbon.

With Mother's Day coming soon, a set of these cards would be a great gift.  Of course, they're also a great gift for co-workers and friends for any occasion.  OR what about making a stack just for yourself?

Mickey, I actually said "WOW!" out loud (sitting here by myself in my craft room) when I saw this. What a beautiful use for the border punch! And I agree, the Everyday Enchantment suite in SAB is the best yet!

Best use of this punch I have seen- and the Lucky Limeade looks so good as the background too! Lucky recipients.
