Frightening Feline
10/06/2012
Hi there!
It's hard to believe that it's already October. Really? Here's a fun way to send a spooky message to family and friends using the Frightening Feline single stamp. This is one very cool cat!

This card begins with a Basic Black card base. A piece of Very Vanilla cardstock was embossed in the Big Shot using the Spider Web Textured Impressions embossing folder, the edges sponged with Crumb Cake ink, and the sponge rubbed lightly over the embossed spider web to make it more visible. The embossed panel was matted with a piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock (the edges sponged with Crumb Cake ink) and adhered to the card front. The edges of a strip of Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper were sponged with Crumb Cake ink (are you seeing a pattern with the sponging?); matted with a slightly wider strip of Crumb Cake cardstock, the edges also sponged with Crumb Cake ink; and adhered along the vertical center of the card front aligning the top and bottom edges of the strip with the top and bottom edges of the embossed Very Vanilla cardstock. [This card was the third project for my BFF Terry's workshop in late July and many of the attendees opted to move this strip nearer the right OR left side of the card front to see the center of the embossed spider web.]
The focal point begins with stamping the Frightening Feline image on Very Vanilla cardstock using Staz-On Jet Black ink. Then the spider web image from the Wicked Cool stamp set was stamped repeatedly along the left and top edges of the cardstock using Crumb Cake ink and the edges of the cardstock sponged with Crumb Cake ink. The Very Vanilla cardstock was adhered to a double mat of Tangerine Tango and Crumb Cake cardstocks, the edges of each mat sponged with Crumb Cake ink. The focal point was adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals. Two of the smallest size of Jewels Basic Rhinestones were adhered to the feline's "face" to create his eyes and a piece of Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta ribbon was tied into a bow and adhered to his "neck" using a Mini Glue Dot. [The folks at Terry's workshop who moved the center panel to the right or left side also placed this panel near the lower left or lower right corner of the card front.]

The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the spider web image stamped repeatedly along the left and top edges of the cardstock and the edges sponged with Crumb Cake ink. The brush tip of Basic Black and Tangerine Tango Stampin' Write Markers were used to apply ink to the Halloween greeting included in the Delightful Dozen stamp set and stamped near the upper center of the liner.

The spider web image was stamped repeatedly along the left edge and lower left corner of the Medium Very Vanilla Envelope. The brush tip of Basic Black and Tangerine Tango Stampin' Write Markers were used to apply ink to the Halloween greeting and stamped near the lower left front corner of the envelope.
I mentioned earlier that this was the third project for my BFF Terry's workshop in late July. I like the way this card turned out so well that I used the Frightening Feline focal point when I created 8" x 8" scrapbook pages featuring the Border Banter stamp set during the Stampin' Addicts Holiday Catalog Blog Hop in August. You can see that post by clicking here. The idea to add the small rhinestones to make the "eyes" for the feline came from a Stampin' Up! Convention swap I received from Ginny Kaplan.
The Holiday Catalog has quite a few really fun stamp sets and accessories for Halloween [and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valentine's Day, too!]. You can see them by clicking on the Holiday Catalog icon on the left sidebar of this blog page or on-line by visiting my Stampin' Up! On-line store. Get Spooky!
