Hi there! Happy Sunday!
Sundays on holiday weekends still seem like Sundays, but with the added boost of knowing that you don't have to go to work on Monday. At least that's what my husband says. He's settling in with football and later with baseball with maybe a bit of racing thrown in as he switches from channel to channel. All that switching irritates me no end, but it's what he does. So I stay in my craft room and stick with one channel or music. What do you craft to? Old movies, series reruns, sports, music? I do a bit of all of them depending on my mood.
Today's post is a card from yesterday's Christmas card class. This project uses the Your Presents stamp set, but this time I designed the card rather than Stampin' Up! I really liked how this card turned out. Lots of shine and sparkle and fun! Who wouldn't want to see what's in those packages? The funny thing is, of all the cards I designed for the Christmas card class, this one gave me the most fits of frustration! I could see what I wanted to do in my head, but translating that vision into reality took the better part of three days. Good grief!
This card begins with a card base of Old Olive cardstock with a slightly smaller piece of Smoky Slate adhered to the card front. A slightly smaller piece of Real Red cardstock was embossed in the Big Shot with the Large Polka Dot Textured Impressions embossing folder and adhered to the Smoky Slate cardstock. A strip of paper from the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Stack (or the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper) was adhered to the bottom of the Real Red cardstock with a narrow strip of Silver Glimmer Paper adhered to the top of the Designer Series Paper strip.
The large and small rectangular packages were inked with Old Olive and Crumb Cake inks, respectively, and stamped on Whisper White cardstock. The plain square image was "Kissed" to the stripes image inked with Cherry Cobbler ink and stamped on Whisper White cardstock. The packages were cut out with Paper Snips. A piece of Silver 1/8" ribbon was placed vertically on the striped package and adhered on the back of the package. The three packages were adhered to the Real Red cardstock.
The small bow image was inked with Old Olive cardstock, cut out with Paper Snips [OR you can use the coordinating die from the Handpicked Framlits] and adhered at the center of the Crumb Cake package. The three-point bow image was inked with Cherry Cobbler ink and stamped on Whisper White cardstock. The stamp was reinked and stamped to the first three-point bow with the bottom points meeting or slightly overlapping (this is very easy to do if you use the Stamp-a-ma-jig). The same process was used again for the three-point bow this time using Old Olive ink. Both bows were cut out with Paper Snips. The Cherry Cobbler bow was adhered at the white intersection of the Old Olive package and the Old Olive bow was adhered to the top center of the striped package. A bow of Silver Cording Trim was adhered at the center of the Old Olive bow at the top of the striped package. A small Rhinestone was adhered at the center of the Cherry Cobbler bow.
The "joy" sentiment was stamped on Silver Foil with Staz-On Jet Black ink and die cut with a label from the Tags & Labels Framelits. A piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock was die cut with the next larger size label Framelits. The silver foil label was adhered to the Mossy Meadow label with Stampin' Dimensionals and adhered to the Real Red cardstock in the upper left corner.
The inside sentiment area of the card was lined with a piece of Whisper White cardstock. A strip of paper from the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Stack (or the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper) was adhered across the top of the liner. The large rectangular package was stamped at the lower left corner of the liner using Old Olive ink and the small rectangular package was stamped as though it were leaning against the Old Olive package using Crumb Cake ink (the Stamp-a-ma-jig helps with placement). A Cherry Cobbler bow adorns the Old Olive package and an Old Olive bow adorns the Crumb Cake package. Both bows made the same as those used on the card front and adhered to the packages. The sentiment comes from the Versatile Christmas stamp set and was stamped at the upper center of the liner using Cherry Cobbler ink.
The large rectangular package was stamped at the lower left front corner of the Medium Whisper White envelope using Old Olive ink. The small rectangular package was stamped just above the right side of the Old Olive package using Crumb Cake ink (the Stamp-a-ma-jig helps with placement). The small bow image was stamped at the white intersections of each package using Cherry Cobbler ink. The "joy" sentiment was stamped across both packages using Staz-On Jet Black ink.
Participants of yesterday's Christmas card class really liked this card and enjoyed all the shimmer and shine. There are still slots open for the November 21st class, so be sure to contact me to sign up! I'd love for you to join us! You'll be making 15 cards, 3 cards each of 5 different designs. The cost of the class is $30. A very small price to pay for having a great time in a low-stress environment with the outcome that you will have 15 very special gifts for family and friends.
Have a great Columbus Day holiday!
